Because you have to complete with all of India and China to buy a home there
Seattle city council
Indian and Chinese insane housing mentality is at play in eastside. Will literally max out their mortgage at any cost. Visa, layoff, it don’t matter, gimme the max loan I don’t care
Yeah, because life is all about raising kids to be no heart, all head and laser focused on becoming a SWE at Amazon.
Better than woke crap, bullying and school shootings
I mean... have you been to the east side? It's like totally different. The atmosphere. The smells. Parking everywhere. So much better quality of life.
I don't like cars & parking though. I'm young and healthy and have a social life. Don't like crackheads but it's nothing like LA and SF in nice parts of Seattle, no?
Parking is not an amenity, lol. Just move to Phoenix if that's what you like.
East side has been premium for a while and will be going forward. It’s nothing new though. For decades, rich folks have been choosing Bellevue, Sammamish and Kirkland waterfront as residential hub. So areas surrounding them now have equally good lifestyle. Seattle city is screwed up in terms of infra, homeless, roads, safety, lifestyle etc; On East, not just Kirkland. Bothell, Woodenville have much better living standards than city proper on west.
Any examples of higher living standards other than lack of crackheads? Higher density to me means more amenities within reach on a bike. That's why typically houses close to downtown would be more expensive (NYC, Boston, Miami, etc). But in Seattle it seems like people are fleeing and I don't understand why.
Covid made eastside prices get absolutely stupid. Return to office might change things but I wouldn’t count on it
Yo, Bill gate live on the east side when he basically can choose anywhere. East side are just newer bigger cleaner in general. And the commute is not bad if you’re in the right location ( I’m talking about Bellevue Kirkland, not bothell)
Some areas of Bothell have a shorter commute to downtown than Kirkland.. Live on Juanita or Finn Hill, u r screwed with single lane roads that get packed on weekdays. It’s all about connectivity to highway.
That is absolutely true. Proximity to 405 matters a lot!
Because most home buyers are parents and if you want to have a yard and some sense of safety, there is no reason to raise your kids in Seattle proper. Eastside is where it's at. If you are single/no kids and want social life you should be in Seattle. Although most would just rent.
Thanks. It seems I can get a new construction townhouse in Fremont for 800k, doesn't look like renting is much better at this point. Just want to make sure I pick parts of Seattle that aren't ghetto. Anything decent with AC is double the price in Kirkland, plus I'm in the middle of nowhere driving a car like a fat f*ck with chronic neck pain.
Hey calm down I indeed have chronic neck pain but I'm not that fat yet!
Lols because people think Seattle is a dangerous city - probably haven't lived anywhere in the states that are much more dangerous
no homeless folks no drug abuse less crime better schools
we can change that.
No you can’t. Seattle votes for this
