Google's new performance guidelines require 8% Quota of underperformers. That's a big number. These 8% of the people are expected to go into action plans with quarterly check in. Basically 8% of the workforce will now be harassed with warnings and action plans costing Nooglers their mental health. This is similar to FB where 15% of the workforce is given a MM rating and thereby a stringent warning. Why are people still worshipping Google with their shitty leveling, shitty low balling and dynamic programming questions? Seriously people need to get a life. No point joining Google with an enforced 8% quota of low performers (they might not be pipped but definitely harassed with quarterly check in and back stabbing).

Yeah my cousin just told me that they would rather choose L3 at Google than Senior at Salesforce. Their argument was that non tech girls in India through arrange marriage are more interested in Google brand then senior position at Salesforce. Unfortunately non tech girls have 0 idea about the SWE world and get swayed away by Google brand.

If you’re referring to PIP as in Performance Improvement Plan then yes it’s increased. But if you’re referring to PIP the way Amazon does it, then it’s not true!

The new perf system has existed for less than a month and hasn’t even gone through one cycle. Already people not even at Google are yelling about some sort of PIP quota? The new ratings just add something formally that already existed informally (‘low CME’).

There is clear cut malice. Earlier low CMEs(bottom 10%) could chill, and enjoy their life like it's another Salesforce/Microsoft. Now they will not be allowed to, will be humiliated with quarterly check in as if they are criminals and put on action improvement plans. Why this harassment? It may not be firing quota but the effect is exactly the same.
