With final updates on Friday, we will never have to dread Monday and peacefully enjoy the weekend to the fullest, including Sunday evenings. I worked on a team once which did this and my mental health has never been better during a job. My weekends had 0 stress as I never had any pending work after Friday evening, so no more nagging background thread in the mind about unfinished work and the awkward imminent status update. I proposed to my new managers in my following gigs to have updates on Fridays but they didn't like it. They want a fresh start on Monday with all the meetings new weekly/sprint targets planning on a Monday.
Lol this sounds terrible
What is a weekly sprint status? Is this Sprint demos? Something doesn't sound true to the book.
Google has weekly sprints. Other companies have two week sprints
And no daily updates? Just weekly?
This sounds awful. No thanks.
So you find all the meetings on Monday, better?
Because nobody works on Fridays, just logging in for show
and get tensed over the weekend about unfinished work ?
I prefers half day or no work on Fridays ….

If you go by scrum book, there’s nothing like a weekly sprint status meeting. Daily scrum call should be done daily. Also, horrible idea to schedule any meetings after 1 pm on a Friday. People hate meetings on Fridays anyways.
then it should be Thursday. But people still dread the sprint update meeting on a Monday.
Ideally sprint end day. I’d ask what do they want to achieve from these status meetings, why can’t the daily scrum calls be made effective and transparent to help with these updates.
