Remember, Uber in 2019 was as good as Google/Facebook. The tables have turned on Uber, they're going downhill everyday both as company and stock. What's the reason for this?
Last year's massive layoffs caused significant trust issues
It’s a trash business, race to the bottom vs lots of competitors… lyft, doordash etc
People finally realized it's just a glorified taxi cab company? Kind of like when people realized WeWork was just a landlord.
I mean amazon is just a glorified store? It’s the scale of amazon and Uber that makes them a big deal.
Before Uber, I had to call to get a cab Now I can call the cab using an app Before Amazon I had to go to the store Now the entire store is on my phone A taxi cab app is cool, definitely better than having to call, but not revolutionary.
Google and others had their fair share of sexual harassment cases and nothing happened. Thuan wasn’t such a visionary and thoughtful leader either. I think the decline toward 💩 tier started before pandemic hit. So I’ll go with none of the above.
IMO I do think some of the sentiment is exaggerated. With their entrance into non-food delivery, that provides way to increase opportunities for Drivers to stay on the platform instead of double app with competitors. Out of all the the rideshare companies they have both rides and delivery allowing them hedge whenever disaster occurs. They have the largest category position globally.
It’s a bad business model
Maybe Uber seems unglamorous because it’s an unprofitable company that skates by on the backs of exploited workers
In 5 years, they’ll go bankrupt. No doubt.
Bro u work at tesla 😍
Doesn’t matter where I work, they’re still going bankrupt
