Why do Google's BARD and Gemini Suck?
I have tried both BARD and Gemini and can't really connect with either. It just feels like they're a wrapper on Google's search. And the UI is horrible. At times both even feel dumb and too much censored or trying to be "too politically correct" with unrealistic answers to questions that have real and true answers. This department of Google or Alphabet may be good at doing research or on the science part but they can't produce a good public product. Google can’t execute. The only thing saving them is their monopoly on search. Once that goes, the whole company is toast.

Acquisition, internal project 20 years ago, acquisition, acquisition, unprofitable business highlighting a product no one uses.
They hire bad people. They should start hiring differently and not just ML experts
They have bad leadership. Probably a lot of nepotism hiring with like minded set in leadership. I think the first line managers and ICs are fine. Just bad decisions after bad decisions.
Google has a DEI director with a DEI army to inject DEI into products, doesn’t matter if that improves the product or not

It’s both. I spoke to several Googlers 1o1, so the DEI reason is insider story.
