Why do companies not retain employees by correcting salaries while have a large paygap for new hires?

Not sure if it is only informatica or other companies but the pay + rsus given to new hires is insanely high compared to existing employees. This causes many employees to leave because of frustration and company ends up losing knowledge built over many years. Why do software companies make it unprofitable for employees to stay back?

They do it because they want to save money. If there are 100 employees, how many left due to the pay gap reason?
