Seems like at least for engineers gaming is a temporary job in the industry. Why do many people eventually leave to tech? Is it purely because of compensation, or is it also because of the culture? Are people generally a lot younger/immature in gaming? (Not trying to be mean here, just wondering why?)
How about the constant fear of being laid off...
Low TC, accomplished what I wanted to, few growth opportunities, tools maturity and experience means I can make whatever game I want independently and returning to gaming has never been an issue for me.
I left because of the poor compensation and questionable job security. Once you’re older and need to support a family these things become more important.
