Blind, Reddit and media is full of stories with Toxic culture at Amazon. Why do people still want to work for Amazon? Are they just naive and think they can handle it or just ignorant and haven't done their research. I am not talking about people already at Amazon, but flat out people who still seems very excited to work for Amazon. L6, 350k
Thatās because they give everyone a fair chance at least for the first online assessment/ phone screen. More $$$ compared to WITCH.
WITCH?
startup has same paycheck with good quality work and dont have toxic culture like amazon
People are unaware of toxic culture. Once they become part of Amazon, then they start regretting it
1. It pays much better than non big tech/unicorn, and hired a lot of people. 2. People hope culture will be different with their team.
Because couldn't get interview from anywhere else.
This
Reading through the comments so far. In one way it's giving opportunities to people who would not have same opportunities otherwise and paying more than what they would make otherwise.
So how many people outside of big schools really get interviews at big companies? Also most new grads and intern salaries are very low compared to what Amazon pays. But almost 90%+ of the SDE IIs at Amazon are on visa so from there it no longer matters.
Because Amazon stock only goes š
My thoughts outside looking in: TC higher than what other positions they can get Working with leading technology is interesting Want it as a jumping off point to other company Realize it can be team dependent People donāt trust all the comments on blind, etc, as just like other reviews, most people only get on forums to complain and thatās the 1% of what it is really like.
Itās either WITCH or Amazon, what should we choose?
What is WITCH?
there are 100's of good startup too
Worked at a WITCH company for 2 years. No other company wanted to interview me. Got an interview at amazon. Cleared it. Pay is really good (4X than what I was getting earlier). It would open a lot of opportunities for me in future. I work in India BTW.
