Seems like Amazon is a place to be avoided according to all the review sites.
I have friends who work there, some hate it but love the paycheck and some think it’s ok. I’ve interviewed with them and I can’t say that I enjoyed the experience. The people were nice enough but seemed very frantic and stressed, often late to the interview and mentioning how busy and unprepared they were to do it. The lifestyle/culture from what I’ve seen doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Happened with me, everyone looked stressed or depressed
I remember asking one of them how their day was going (it was 5pm) and he said “Oh, it’s going and it’s going to keep going for a while yet” in a tired tone. It didn’t exactly give me a warm fuzzy.
And still people join if they gets offer 😄
It’s always day 1
In my opinion, Amazon's performance management policies have unique features that can lead to a very bad experience at Amazon. Those things, in combination, are: 1. Stack ranking 2. Forced performance management for bottom tier of stack rank 3. Non disclosure of first steps of performance management (they don't tell you if you are in Focus unless you ask) 4. (For Non-citizens) Amazon will not sponsor green card until SDEs are L5.
#4 is good though. Every mom and dad can get in as L4
Are we still asking this question 😂
You will he answer this in some days
1. Shitty as fuck compensation after first two years of pure cash 2. Pip originated from Amazon 3. Incompetent leadership, headless chicken 4. 0 benefit. Worst insurance in the tech. 5. Developer environment is one of worst in the industry despite the fact that they own AWS 6. No stock refresher. Stock you get on promotion gets vested after 2 years later 🤡 7. Incredible top down culture. There’s no bottom up. Listen to PM and lick your manager’s boots And many more. Not to mention Amazon has 200k+ engineers. Working for Amazon has lost its value.
This is true and hilarious. #3 is killing me right now. I'm being asked to fabricate data to make a problem look worse than it really is....
Bottom of the barrel choice when you have no other options in life and they are still striving to be Earths most Abusive Employer.
This post will eventually be reported and taken down by Amz folks to save their face.
