1. Built trackpad that still Microsoft and Samsung cannot even come close to competing 2. Built m chips that blow intel chips out of water. Macbook air m2 performs better than intel i9 at a fraction of cost 3. Built laptops that are stapled to corporates. 9 out of 10 employees choose macbook over any other devices if they have a choice for work 4. Built the most popular phone that customers will throw money at even if phones cost more than a $1000 5. Built the most premium brand that brands like Hermes and Christian Dior built phone cases for their customers. There are YouTube channels that only talk about apple with more than 10M subscribers. Apple is the only brand that can do this 6. Built first app store and has maintained a very high quality bar of apps in the ecosystem. 7. Built an amazing workforce that even with RTO, no free food, bad wlb, low pay, all tech employees WANT to work there 8. Building next gen products like Vision Pro that Meta has poured tens of billion dollars into. 9. 3T dollar company but Warren Buffer just doubled down on it even more 10. Best visual graphic designs, ads, stories. Just WOW apple. I won't be surprised in the future where all FANG die, and all companies die but Apple reach 100T market cap. Truly the best company in the world.
My prediction. Apple stock reaches 100k per share
sure AAPL just replaces bitcoin.
Theres not enough money in the world to pay that. Theyd have to 1000x reverse split to make that happen.
Most of what your mentioned is just use case. I can make same arguments for Microsoft as well and we have no where close to best engineering. 1. Built operating system that powers 86% of worlds computer even today. 2. Built office suite which is by margin the leader in enterprise space. 9 out of 10 companies choose outlook over thunderbird.
It is different because Microsoft builds shit products but people use it because there is no alternative (ex. People using workday or Jira) On the other hand, people are excited to use Apple products
lol no one pays a premium for your garbage though. If you tried to price like apple you’d be out of business. You exists for entirely different reasons.
Less focus on corporate-wide processes, more focus on outcomes. This means, no hiring committees where engineers are seen as fungible resources. No calibration, stack ranking, PIPs and other such nonsense. No one is getting a promotion easily. So no need to constantly show BS impact. Managers are required to spend time planning the roadmap for well-defined goals. Not for rating reports. So everyone is focusing on the work. Sure there is politics and delivery pressure. But it is not every quarter and it is not out of creating an artificial environment of fear. The aggressive timelines are to meet product delivery for the market. It's almost like the leaders actually spend time figuring out the right products to build rather than just sitting back in calibration meetings and rating people.
is it true apple has no calibration? Stack ranking isn't for every company, but I would be surprised if a company existed that did perf ratings but had zero guidelines or calibration. It sounds amazing
Apple doesn't do fungible calibration in the classical sense. They recognize that every engineer is working on different things and can't be compared. More important than calibrations is to ensure product is delivered. Managers are forced to focus on the delivery than on collecting documentation about performance.
I would also add airpods to the list
Basically everyone is too busy to play politics.
Everyone I know at Apple had super chill wlb or at least they appear to. Is that not the case?
Probably depends on the department. My wife works at apple as a material engineer, and they regularly need to have meetings with vendors at night since all the vendors are based in Asia.
Product focus and strong leadership. No distraction with DEI and all the woke stuff. Just build good products with strong talent
You should marry Apple
One possibility I don't see mentioned is it's direct to consumer (and a luxury brand as well). Arguably other faangs also have very good engineers, but the goals are not end user enjoyment so it's less apparent.
Agree Apple is a arguably the most important company in the world. Also first hyper gay Tech CEO.
Hi @yTvR86, I am really interested in 3 openings and strongly match with it. I have done 500+ LC and good with system design, could you please refer me ? Woupd be really grateful 🙏

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
Make them work 16 hours a day for 8 hours pay 😂
Doesn’t seem sustainable.
You mean working an 8 hour day, meta and google work like 2.5 hours a day
