Why does nobody wants to refer new grads? [Poll]

I have seen that many people don't want to refer new grads. They just advise us to apply through Career Cell at university. How can a person apply? 😞 #engineering #software #swe #apple #Twitter #Samsung #Okta #Netflix #Salesforce #Microsoft #Oracle #Rippling #qualtrics #cohesity

Because no one wants to hire new grads via referral. They are hired via University hiring and other means

If a person is not from a good university and worked hard during their college days and is good at LC. What if companies don't visit their university? They will be unemployed forever

Some companies participate in pool campus hiring, some companies host hackathon on sites like Hackerank to get a direct call for an interview, some small companies hire directly based on leetcode, GitHub profile. Try to create your portfolio, increase your presence on sites like LinkedIn, GitHub, Naukri, Hackerank, Hackerrarth instead of Blind. Try to use Discord to find people who are offering jobs. There are many options my friend. Go for it. Good luck.

Yes

Meta folks got money for grad referrals (double versus non-tech referrals) so your mileage may vary depending on the company and how well your referral knows the rules.

Because no one knows you or how you work to refer you. Who is unproven 21 year old anyway?

It is bizarre to me that anyone would refer someone that they have never worked with or known. What is the point of a reference if they can't speak to your work and professionalism?
