Bellevue has a lot of benefits over Seattle. - No head tax and threat of tax on business in future - Most families prefer east side for better school districts - Downtown Seattle traffic is a mess especially around peak times. - Bellevue is way cleaner and no rampant homelessness or drug problem like Seattle. - No human feces on side walks - Way more family and business friendly than Seattle I’m not advocating relocating to Bellevue. Just expand in Bellevue. Sub-lease all future buildings in Seattle.
Bellevue will start head tax after Amazon moves there. It’s just like marriage. You show the best of you before marriage and the shittest after marriage. Same with Seattle, same with Bellevue, same everywhere
There’s a few openings now. I just checked. I’m thinking of moving to Bellevue. Best schools there?
Bellevue has one of the best school districts in WA. Newport high school is one of the best among non lottery based. Bellevue high is also good but has lots of rich kids. International high school is lottery based and no. 2 in WA st. It is national top 50. It used to be no. 1 but that now goes to Tesla high in Redmond. Bellevue has gifted program till high school. So, the best is actually Interlake high gifted. They beat every high school by miles.
I pretty sure International got ranked no.1 this year and no.15 nationally
They probably will
Amazon was moved to SLU to pump real estate values. A truly frugal company would be in some low rent generic office park.
Instead the jobs will move to HQ2
Only mgrs live on the Eastside and a few Senior Eng with families. Who’s going to do the real work if forced to commute to Bellevue?
This
We already have 1 building there. Puget sound business journal and geekwire confirmed another 1M Sq ft signed for in 3 more buildings.
Why are people so triggered by the head tax? It’s not even $300!
It's the hate it represents, and the principle. I'd gladly have my property tax raised $275 to pay for this, but the head tax is offensive.
The hate!? Get over yourself, you’re saving thousands per year because you dont have to pay state income tax unlike every other tech city in the country that doesn’t suck
It's not that simple. People would leave in droves if forced to move to the Eastside (or face the commute across the bridges).
That’s why I said future expansion. More like new teams and projects.
Lol. There are thousands of Amazon employees on the east side already many of whom would love to work in Bellevue.
