Real talk: in what way private schools are better than public in nyc?
Isn’t it crazy that most people work most of the time during their prime years, with the hope of retiring when you are old. Why can’t we borrow 1-2 years from that retirement right now?
Ever heard about maintaining Visa Status? :/
I’d love to take a 6 month career break when I hit 40. I’m an IC which I think makes stepping back into a role potentially easier
Not really.
not with my mortgage payment I can’t :(
It sends a bad signal to your next employer. It shows you have a non working life, money and ability to take risks. How on earth would they exploit you.
Too real
😶
It's not crazy. As long as we live in a world where ageism is a part of our lives, it's better to work as long as one can before they are determined to be unemployable.

I took 2 career “breaks” via FMLA 🤦🏻♀️
I’m about to take a break. I have been working for 16 yrs no break. I will quit after next Amazon vest in two weeks. At first I thought I should just get a new, better job, but I am so done right now that I bombed the simplest things in my interviews. That also told me to just stop. So I will take summer and fall off, have fun, go on vacation. Then look for something around end of year.
Can and should imho. Understand this is a luxury but for those that can, do it.
I took two career breaks. It was hard to come back and it gets harder the more you take and the older you are. 🥲
What did you do in the break?
Was it worth it?
