As title says, in the first round also candidate did not know many days in advance compared to amazon which announced it a couple of weeks earlier. It seems today there was a layoff at google and it was like a shock to many employees. TC: 300k
Amazon had hundreds laid off with zero notice.. I found out our entire org was eliminated by walking into the office and my badge not working anymore...
That is a horrible way to treat someone. Sorry to hear it Skyrena.
Layoff candidates are not given an advance notice (unless the labor laws in the country require it). This is how it is done in the industry. There may be broad level communication about imminent restructuring, but companies do not have to do it. For Amazon, they generally got 60 days of paid salary, and then severence dependent on their tenures. There were leaks on Blind, but those are not formal communications.
Jhatka vs halal.
bruh lmao
Amazon gives advance notice so that all employees fear for their lives and company can extract maximum sweat and blood before they are laid off.
and folks find a job before they are laid off, so Amazon doesn’t have to pay severance
The law requires companies bigger than 100 people to give advance notice (60 days) about layoffs (WARN act). Some companies prefer not to do it and instead give you 60 or more days severance. Why Amazon did it differently from Google - who knows, there might have been some reason behind their decision.
Different approach , I think they are giving good pay off a d don’t want to negotiate. At Amazon I know they offered negotiation and people to come forward at Google they are probably looking where they can silently reduce the bottom rating employees
Do not speculate about matters you have no knowledge of.
