IBM has always had it's fingers in the Fab process tech game... Lot of synergies with cloud/block chain... They still sell some servers too. Think of it as complimentary to their services business.

They’re investing in on premises server hardware, Microsoft and amazon will be selling that soon because cloud isn’t for everyone

Did they get their strategy wrong in 2015 when they sold hardware division and now doing a U-turn

IBM pxDx83 Feb 15, 2019

We didn’t sell the hardware division. We sold the fab. And no, we didn’t get it wrong. The investment needed to keep that fab current was out of all proportion.

IBM pxDx83 Feb 15, 2019

And to be clear, we didn’t sell it. We had to PAY Global Foundries yo take it.

GlobalFoundries flosser Feb 13, 2019

Are they hiring?

IBM wmKP68 Feb 15, 2019

Yes storage brand hiring since 2018

Oracle nBeN41 Feb 15, 2019

IBM got out of commodity hardware, not custom systems, which have much higher margins.

IBM chi60610 Feb 16, 2019

Security. Simple as that.

IBM is a marketing company, they are very good at selling a product which does not exist. They publish cutting edge technology only for show biz. Once you deep dive its all gas.
