DUI Away
If you’ve been to a EE/CS class at any University there is already a gender imbalance. The few that graduate may choose to go to other Faang over MS. Are you suggesting we hire psychology majors to bridge the gap?
Diversity slating should be impacting representation more than our competitors who don't have it .
All Faang and other companies have Diversity and inclusion incorporated. Look at their representation at Pride Parades.
Too many Telugus in Microsoft and they are sleazy that's why.
How are women so over represented in FAANG I will never understand. The ratio of women to men in my CS class was 1:20. Ideal percentage should be 5% in google etc. And it’s 25%. Doesn’t make any sense. Should be 5%. Time to hire men to make the gender ratio more balanced
I’m guessing they hire bootcampers and non-cs breaking into tech
My master's program had 30 or 40% women. No American women other than me. Indian, Chinese and Saudi. Most stayed in the US though
Is that none for tech jobs in Amazon? Or too small of a number to make the graph
The fine print says Amazon doesn’t report it
I am even surprised at the percentage of women. It's actually way higher than I expected, considering the ratio of men to women in a typical CS/EE class. It's really impressive. But I still struggle to understand why focus on gender instead of qualifications.
Same. Only 10% of the opposite gender at my CS class at University. All of them got jobs in top Fortune500. Graduated during a non recession year though.
So you think women would be less qualified? Why exactly? If there were 1000 jobs and only 10,000 in the world, then we could say something like “hey, actually the problem is the pipeline and we need to get more women to go into STEM”, but when there are literally a ton of candidates out and there are a lot of qualified women, your quality argument does not work. Also, the number of women in stem has been increasing and you don’t see the numbers changing in the past 5-10 years, even with the push in hiring during COVID (though you could have the issue that women quit at higher rates to take care of others but I don’t think that was for 20 something’s).
They let Indian men hire whoever they want, they have a lot of Indian men at MS, and they want to hire more Indian men, not women. DEI, eeoc, affirmative action, critical race theory, etc were only created against white American men.
What goes into tech jobs? Software engineer, all the hardware engineer, also data science? I’m assuming since companies provide the information what goes into it can vary by company?
