There's a tent city there near the highway. Maybe that is impacting the prices.
No AC, many still haven’t come back to the city, and it’s the off season for moving so apts are cheaper than usual.
It’s the off season. It’s a nice place to live. Great central location. I live there and rents are lower this time of year, much much higher in the summer and somewhat high in the spring and fall. That’s been the case before and during the pandemic. Car break ins are a thing and some package and bike thefts, but that’s city wide. The lack of air conditioning is an issue with recent heat waves and wildfires, so check to be sure there’s a way to add a window AC unit or something, if needed. Some buildings offer them for rent. A lot of good food can be delivered, but that particular zone has more business offices vs restaurants and shops, unless you’re looking to buy a boat or do something with a boat. There are limited gym options, with more in Fremont and SLU, which could be a little walk, depending on where you are in that stretch. Also, grocery stores are in Fremont, LQA, Queen Anne, and SLU, but only small corner markets are in that stretch. If you have a dog, there are limited lawns. The parks around Lake Union host large geese populations and their poop is everywhere, dominating the spots dogs might enjoy. That doesn’t stop people and their dogs from going to the parks, but Seattle offers better dog friendly parks and areas that are much cleaner for the dogs health. For any other West Side Lake Union residents… tell me you live there without saying you live there… … that may give further insight into the neighborhood character…
Yeah the lack of grocery stores bug me, but it's a great place to live in, otherwise. The only large ones are QFC on Mercer street and Safeway and trader Joe's on upper queen anne. Stay on Dexter if you can, not Aurora, so that you have better transit options. I'd choose Westlake for proximity to SLU offices without the exorbitant rents. Most apartment buildings have fitness centers so that shouldn't be a problem. It's great if you're working for Google or Facebook offices, they're within walking distance.
not as developed as Eastlake .....eastern exposure ...westlake ave is more of an arterial than eastlake
