I keep receiving emails from recruiters representing unknown consulting companies regarding job opportunities, even though I am not actively seeking new employment. While the emails themselves aren't bothersome, I expect recruiters to conduct some research on a candidate's experience and current job situation before reaching out. I have over 20 years of experience in my field, and it's frustrating when recruiters send requirements suited for candidates with significantly fewer years of experience. Additionally, when discussing compensation, the offers often range from 120-150k, which seems inadequate considering my experience and current position. I believe recruiters should consider a candidate's current employer and their experience level before reaching out, aligning opportunities with reasonable budget expectations. Am I expecting too much from recruiters? #google #amazon #apple #netflix #pinterest #uber #meta

Happens to everyone. I’ve started directly asking for a job description, high level compensation, and information on seniority etc from these types of recruiters. If they can’t answer these questions (or at least give a valid answer I.e. confidentiality for not being able to answer) I politely thank them for their time and move on.
Look at the resumes of a lot of these recruiters. Many of them are hired by a third party staffing agency straight out of a community college and told to scour linkedin to find people matching certain keywords to get them to apply to a certain job. It’s a numbers game for them, and they aren’t filtering down their query field because their KPIs don’t discourage unnecessary reachouts. Now there are plenty of good recruiters out there and even out of the ones spamming your inbox, they’re only just trying to do their job to the best of their ability. But it’s not exactly simple for a recruiter straight out of college making $20/hr to know that $120k-150k is 🥜 for you when they have no context on salaries in your field based on your position and YOE. They just see you match the keywords they’re looking for, they likely have no domain specific knowledge or context to filter you out past that.
My favorite is: we offer extremely competitive salaries… max we can pay is 80,000 no benefits, rsu, nor bonuses
lol. Thats when you are getting 81K+ benefits already ;)
because they know Google work is so chill that you can probably do a second job making additional 150k on top of what you already make at Google. 150k TC is trash but 150k ADDITIONAL income is sweet, it’s literally like a promotion
i am on visa. Cant do
20 YoE and still on Visa ? Wow
They are not recruiters, most likely they are sourcers

I'm sure those emails are automated and they are just spamming hoping one of us would bite.
