I'll tell you why. Rich and white privilege. He has zero background in AI/research/ML. The only company he founded was Loopt which was a failure. How did he become a partner at ycombinator? White privilege. At ycombinator he invested in openai along with thousands of other companies and then joined it as CEO. White privilege. PLEASE STOP SIMPING FOR THIS GUY. Have some self respect and respect the engineers/researchers in the background who have spent countless hrs doing research/benchmarking/creating/optimizing the models, etc. Yes, I'm butt hurt when I see such ppl get disproportionate attention and the there's absolutely no talk about the ppl doing the real work. Founding a company and raising money does not make a company. You've have to fucking world class product.
no one cares as long as he uses his privilege to make their grants worth something
Sad but very true. What's why 90%+ employees demanded him to go back..... Everyone is there for the money- who cares about any issues they might be help creating in the future? Get rich first
He literally went to Stanford and did research in AI as an undergrad before dropping out. Google is free btw
Research in AI as an undergrad.. LOL tells me you are a PM/TPM
Senior Software Engineer with a Masters in Data Science from Berkeley actually. The guy obviously went on after working in labs post-dropout and worked closely in LLM research and eventually just focused solely on the business side of AI related work. He’s far more successful than you and I, and not by random chance. You don’t just drop out of Stanford without a good reason, and the intelligence to back it up. You’re clearly a POS pretentious loser irl, I hope you have a sustainable and meaningful social life one day kid.
Ok Satish
White privilege? No. It's another type of privilege SBF also had, lol. They don't consider themselves white unless it is advantageous to do so.
So is true for us compared to poor in India or Africa. Life is unfair but we forget our privileges.
Finally a reasonable take on Altman. I think the anti-Altman crowd is large, but everyone is waiting for it to be “socially acceptable” to bash him.
So if he’s black, youl accuse him of what? And if he’s poor? Very flawed argument
If you’re in the majority it’s your privilege, if you’re in the minority you’re a diversity hire. If neither of those two apply to you then you’re probably in a gender/race category that’s doing well and therefore nobody wants to defend.
But he is not is he? I hate is the point.
There’s something to be said when my entire Twitter feed is OpenAI employees, including the very smart ones doing the research, are sending him love and threatening to quit unless he’s put back in charge.
There's something to be said that they are just threatening and not quitting Altman is a multi millionaire. are regular people really going to resign without thinking? In this economy? And yeah unless you're independently wealthy you're a regular people in this world
It's not white privilege, it's rich privilege White privilege is something you get just because you are white like not getting shot
Innocent people don’t generally get shot.
You've got a lot to learn
