Why workday doesn't allow work from home

Why workday doesn't encourage work from home? I recently joined workday analytics but when I asked my manager she was crazy and she told me that's not an option if you think that way we might have to do other stuff(I am wtf, she told me that they would let me go), this is crazy response but really workday doesn't encourage? Don't complain about an employer's deficits. Find yourself a better employer

The Climate Corporation TSTk67 Jan 22, 2022

No, definitely complain so that employers on the whole know certain things are not acceptable

Vote with your principles, leave the place and clearly state this in an exit interview. Leadership can't ignore regretted attrition unless it's ignorant guidance top-down. Then they deserve it I guess 🤷‍♂️

I had a Workday person tell me on here it can be fully remote. I’m starting to think the 2 remote people per company are posting frantically everywhere in the fear that it’ll be revoked when it’s safe to be around other humans again. I actually don’t think it will be revoked if they said a position will be fully remote forever, they’ll just pay you less accordingly. That says nothing about future hires though.

Metromile CGks70 OP Jan 22, 2022

When I joined this was not a remote position. Looks like may be it is org dependent. I was ok with pay cut for health reason, after affected with COVID. But anyway I better stop saying anything and look for something who provide me what I want. I posted here to check with other workday people is wfh that bad.

Workday Chaneel Jan 22, 2022

I think it highly depends on the org and the micro politics. For my team/ org people don't really give a shit about wfh or office. I think your manager and org is fucked and better find a different place in or out of workday. Also don't forget to report this people leader. Obviously she learned from dictatorship.

Workday analyticss Jan 22, 2022

Workday was never pro-wfh before the pandemic and this mentality hasn’t changed. Management will ask you to return to office when it’s safe to do so or cut your pay. It’s way easier to micromanage someone when he is in office than remote. The company has FAKE (not great 🤣) culture and employees first is the biggest lie on Earth. I had posted many times on Blind about this and said don’t believe everything other Sickday employees publicly post here. Read up on Glassdoor negative reviews as well. Don’t you think all the short and sweet positive reviews are so FAKE!? 🤣 Sorry bro. You fell for their trap! Hope you aren’t on Visa and can get out quickly. Otherwise you are just a Workslave! 🤣

There’s plenty of remote or “home office” based positions on the career site: https://www.workday.com/en-us/company/careers/teams/corporate.html Maybe your position was not one of them.?

Metromile CGks70 OP Jan 22, 2022

Thanks for reminding me, i will take a look at open positions. As I mentioned my position wasn't remote when I interviewed, I requested for remote.

Workday nvmbr Jan 22, 2022

I cannot figure out why Workday is being so resistant to remote work. For my role they wouldn't even consider it and basically told me to come back to the office in April or find something else. So after years of working with a great team I am moving on.

Workday apeclub Jan 23, 2022

What’s your role?

Workday nvmbr Jan 23, 2022

Eng manager

Workday HolaPeepz Jan 22, 2022

So we have a hybrid model now. If you want full remote you have to request and then it is reviewed (chances are slim to be honest) otherwise you have to be in the office 50% of the time. Wether you wanna be in most of the week at the beginning of the release and wfh at the end of the release or just do 2-3 days in office throughout is up to you. We’re still pushing for wfh but don’t think it’s gonna happen. But it does sound like your manager is a bit of a dick with her delivery.

Workday gurly Jan 22, 2022

You might have known the workday tech stack XO Wats. It is hard to train people if they are remote. Because workday management core value is micro management. Why do you think there is so much level of management even in qa org?

Workday 2jckAl Feb 10, 2022

In QA Org? Lol. This happening everywhere now as we speak. VP hiring another VP to put layers on top of directors. Directors hiring directors and sr mgr. It's all over! The good ol Workday as some may have known it is no more. Dave is gone and now the whole P&T is full of Oracle people - the very political mgmt we all wanted to avoid!

Workday gurly Jan 22, 2022

Definitely your manager sounds like a dick. Since you already gave her clue she might be working on things against you.

Workday duckdude Jan 22, 2022

I thought same thing. Some people are just bad communicators. There is a better way to deliver that message than the way above

Workday nutpeanut Jan 22, 2022

My manager is like yours op. He is already talking about us returning to work 3 times a week. I am starting to LC and look outside because tbh I don’t want to commute to work anymore.

Workday duckdude Jan 22, 2022

I can't wait for more people to leave. I'm hoping it pushes me up in the ranks. Fail up and onward!

Workday Chaneel Jan 22, 2022

That's nuts. 3 times a week? Tell him to get it together. You should just look elsewhere too. There are teams in workday who will be more open but for better $ nowadays look elsewhere.

Workday dfyhbh556 Jan 22, 2022

My team is 100% remote . Commute didn’t matter to me as workday hq is just few miles from my place . But I am extremely disappointed with the stupid management stance of not allowing wfh. Anyways I am leaving soon . So doesn’t matter to me .

Workday Chaneel Jan 22, 2022

Where to? In my team we don't care about office or wfh, we all agree it's cool. But I am seriously considering leaving too due to incompetent leaders in my org (in other ways than not allowing WFH).
