I am trying to understand VMware cloud. If I want to deploy a legacy application to the cloud, why would I need special VMware software to accomplish this goal? It makes no sense? All cloud providers offer “bare metal” VMs
Hi
I guess they provide good hybrid cloud experience to enterprise customers
Not everyone can and wants to be in cloud
1. Great for hybrid environments 2. "Single pane of glass" for management and administration (vSphere) just like you would have on-prem 3. Good intermediary "landing zone" if you dont want to or cant go full native cloud yet, as full DC migrations take a long time, lots of refactoring and a lot of $$ 4. VMC on AWS uses native AWS services and integrates familar services such as vSAN, NSX and easily able to integrate and communicate with other native AWS services 6. Governance and processes dont really need to change because its all already "familiar" to most companies because if your business uses virtualization its 90% going to be VMware, especially if looking to maintain your DR strategy and RPO/RTO 7. TCO is usually lower compared to on-premise virtualization ...and many more. It makes plenty of sense for MANY companies.
Are you in AWS?
Yes
