Will Amazon convert interns to full time SDE????

Amazon hired Interns in bulk this year.. NIT Patna : 69 interns Similarly in other colleges 20 - 40 interns. Now as the layoffs and recession is continuously going on... Will they convert the interns to sde like they have done in past years or the conversion rate will decrease significantly this year.
