Hello Blind, I recently signed an offer at IBM as a new grad, but reached out to HR if they have any sort of relocation bonus. They said they do not, but ended up reaching out to my manager, who approved a 5k sign on bonus to make up for it. They said a new contract will be sent to me, but given the current econmic climate, I am concerned about them rescinding their offer. Should I reach out to my manager and say that a new contract is not necessary? Or am I worrying too much? Edit: if anyone from IBM has any insight on the current company situation, it would be greatly appreciated
You could’ve negotiated your base pay or stock. First offer is always a lowball. And most new grads take it. More often than not, they’ll give you a bump no matter the market condition. Learned from this mistake much later.
In general you should never negotiate after signing an offer. The time to negotiate is before. They aren’t going to rescind over this but be careful in the future.
Nobody is going to rescind over 5k
Having recently left IBM - you're fine. In fact them coming back with 5k directly from the hiring manager is a good sign. They've made an effort to ensure YOU don't back out of the offer, not the other way around.
You really want to negotiate in this market? Don’t risk it for a few hundred a month.
IBM wont rescind, things just take a long time.

I hit the wrong button. Ignore the 1 vote saying to reach out. You're def worrying too much. If it's going to be rescinded it definitely won't be for a 1 time $5K payout. (And I've worked at IBM)
