https://news.yahoo.com/macys-swings-loss-second-quarter-111100925.html Why are these retail/department stores struggling like no other...
We actually are doing better than projected. Digital is up over 50% from last year.
Digital is up for every e-commerce company out there. it's up by 3 digits for most of them. It'll be a surprise if it's not up. I think Macy's might be the last to disappear. It has lot of prime real estate, it'll be interesting to see what happens to them.
They live and die with the mall. If the malls are closed and redeveloped macy's will sell as well.
Lol you’re joking right? The customer service is trash. Nordstrom will be the last one standing.
Time is little hard for retail rn for sure but situation will improve soon.
soon? I doubt that! it's an ever growing downward trend for most brick and mortar. But yes retail is so fast paced we never know when things will take a U turn
acquired by Amazon
Amazon has no need for Macy’s. What would be their motivation?
Most bankruptcy filings are for restructuring purposes not just going bye bye!
Depends on if the bankruptcy is chapter 7 or chapter 11
Don't issue a blanket statement by saying "Time is bad for all retail". Grocery and home improvement are killing it. 🤞
I buy a fair amount from Home Depot, but man, you guys gotta fix your online store
Working on it. Focus in on stabilizing platform this year.
Close for good unlikely. They will close s lot of stores and they will be in all remaining malls that have good traffic.

IRS Warns Thousands of Taxpayers They Could Face Jail Time
I've noticed that a lot of retail companies that have storefronts neglected keeping their websites up to date. Increased traffic caused them to crash. I think they were just too late to making the switch over to ecommerce. Also, the cost to having physical stores that aren't in use are still quite high.
A lot of the big stores were already in the sales and lease back deals. So when they closed it will be the landlords problem. The landlord are usually reit who knows what it is doing or developers who want the land to tear down the whole place anyways.
To add to that, I don’t think this is an easy time to get rid of those buildings.
