Will actors be a thing in 5 years?

Everyone’s enamored with Chatgpt, but I’m sure someone’s working on AI that will generate any video or visual content you want, probably trained on YouTube and all movies, shows, etc. Combine chatgpt or whatever it is in five years, plus this video AI, and content creation of all forms will be solely done by AI.

It’s going to take many decades for this

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Wait why? Chatgpt will literally write any script. Just a couple years ago, chat bots were a joke. Clearly we’re advancing super quickly.

Microsoft chatmin Feb 19, 2023

I think it will eventually be even better than anything humans have made..but we’re not there yet

Yeah, 5 years is way too early and naive of a prediction.

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Fine 10 years? Could you have imagined something as natural sounding as chatgpt a couple years ago?

20-30 for anything nearly as authentic as what humans produce. And while ChatGPT is impressive for many things, it’s not very unique. It’s trained on massive corpi of data, and doesn’t really do a great job of extending beyond that in a way that it would support the production of an entire movie; let alone entire film scenes

Lol unless you want shitty uninspired plots they’ll still be around

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Actors make plots?

Amazon 3rdNipple Feb 19, 2023

While actors usually don't write the script, they sometimes do get to provide input on their specific lines/scenes that the director may consider and move forward with

Amazon 3rdNipple Feb 19, 2023

Why are people so desperate to remove humanity from art? Who hurt you?

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Lolol, it’s not like I want this, just observing what’s happening

Amazon 3rdNipple Feb 19, 2023

From reading your other responses, there seems to be some misconceptions of what actors do

Microsoft 72ja8 Feb 19, 2023

Didn't Nvidia already did that with their launch event last yr? https://youtu.be/f_V30ueEXE4

Palo Alto Networks luwanna Feb 19, 2023

There will still be actors cuz ppl like to act - it’s fun to do! Just like we still have plays ..

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Pro bono actors I’m assuming. What studio is going to pay for talent when it can make its own?

Amazon 3rdNipple Feb 19, 2023

They pay for the name. People love celebrities. Why do you think all these celebrities (Chris Pratt) are suddenly doing voice acting (Mario)?

Adobe elon rnusk Feb 19, 2023

In 5? Yeah In 15? Less clear…

Blend AJ172 OP Feb 19, 2023

Probably right. Only thing that will stop it is legislation

Amazon eidnb82 Feb 19, 2023

No. There is a reason nepotism exist in Hollywood. People are more likely to watch a movie when they recognize someone/know they are related to someone famous. If that wasn’t true, there’s a plethora of cheap actors Hollywood can hire.

Microsoft changeRT Feb 19, 2023

Yes but not because of GPT, but because these days people get more obsessed with social media influencers than actors

McKinsey J.Pow Feb 19, 2023

SWEs will get replaced way before Hollywood
