I like the tech and the team but the pay.....damn I know I could make a lot more at the big ones. We are also not being able to hire good talent. Now that the IPO is behind us, I think we'd have to up our game. Cannot lure people in with that anymore. What do you all think of the company from outside? Should I stick around or not? 10yoe 300k TC with current stock price.
Well, 1st of all, you are already overpaid. 2nd, gtfo.
I wish I could also live under the same rock as yours 😂
Better than being ignorant about your own inflated worth.
You make plenty
Start interviewing and see what the offers are. Maybe you can get them to counter to stay.
I have heard from a manager that leadership doesn't want to go out of range to retain people in SF. But yeah you never know. Can certainly try that. Just that interview prep is a bit**
What role are you in? If engineering, you can certainly do better than 300K.
Yeah, engineering. Thanks
Certain companies in the valley define how high salaries can go. More often than not, they can afford to based on the performance of their business. Others try to pay market rate or lower in a competitive market because they can't afford to pay higher. Unless you're a true believer in the company and think your stocks will go up a lot or you see the business fundamentally improving soon, I wouldn't hope for too much. Move to a company where you are paid your true worth.
Thanks. Company culture is good but I don't think stocks are going to be moving much in positive direction any time soon. Mainly because of the market we are in. Few new initiatives are also somewhat questionable imo. Company is trying to not hire in SF and mainly focusing on Austin, London and Lisbon to get cheaper labor. So, yes, I am a believer but I don't think I can stick around much longer when others are paying so much more.
Then move asap
Yes, I am in SF. Products are good and we are well respected in tech community. (Partially good work and partially because of very efficient marketing machinery) But pay is a different story all together. Morale is a little down because we all expected a better opening than what we got at IPO. But the real test is going to be when the lockup lifts.
I would feel better about recommending CF to prospective employees if they paid market rate. I would feel better about ever working there again if they hired remote or in a civilized country.
Pay is definitely non-competitive these days. Considering moving on myself.
Sad to hear this is still the case. Love the company.
Are you a millionaire now with the stock growth?
So you think many people left because of pay?
I would guess so.
Yes. And the exec team.
