I do tech screens at Google. AMA
Renewable energy industry, like Danish wind power company, Vitas wind system, Ørsted. American company, GE. Canadian solar. Will these companies be the focus in the future and provide high compensation? Tired of the layoff waves in tech industry and wanted to find a better career path.
The people joining now will be early birds, but not sure if can be as promising as the report. Have seen solar panel industry failed in the past
Profit margins are extremely low , with high capital investment , regulated and cut throat competition. So answer is No
Good analysis.. yeah I am just thinking if Biden’s clean energy program could accelerate the renewable energy industry. Maybe too naive
I was part of some those during my recent career with one of the large renewable energy company. Great policy and vision in place, but misconceptions on battery and pure reliance on renewables is plaguing the government. It would be hard for them to offset all the generation of power with renewable as most of them are not 24*7 robust like coal, gas, nuclear etc. We have seen times when a cloud over large solar field would trigger us to ramp up our gas powered plant at record speed and pray grid stays stable. Talks of batteries storage to power large cities are comical as well. People who have maintained batteries knows the pain point and recycling issues that apparently on our discussion government was ignoring. Technology is not there yet I will put it that way. Plus if in next decade fusion becomes real then all the renewable plants will have significant impact on their business. No trying to come out pessimistic but lived it so know little bit about it. So its good field to get in but not for money.
