A friend recently got an offer from Wipro and is moving to the East Coast from Seattle area. Does Wipro pay for the 30days rent(~1800) + the lease breaking fee (3600), in addition to the flight tickets, etc? Is there an upper limit to the relocation package? What I heard is that they don't pay a lump sum amount for relocation, they just reimburse you for the receipts that you can provide them. Is this true?
Yep all these infosys, wipro, cognizant, tcs will reimburse expenses.. I dont know about wipro specifically but infosys gives 1 week car rental, 1 week accomodation, lease ~3000 , car shipping and moving furniture like that (overall 7000 limit). But it does take lot of time to do that. And they'll also do some tax thing where you lose 10$ for every 100$ i think.. it took 2 months for me..& u have to provide original reciepts.. and do lots of follow ups and emails.. send original receipts somewhere, also send softcopies and shit like that.. But why wipro? Unless u dont have GC or a citizen.. if ur frnd has h1b i suggest not to join.. bcoz i dont think they will do GC process. (My brother worked 'with' wipro as middle layer while working on contracting [c2c] roles and didnt accepted wipro's fulltime offer)
This is good info. My friend is on H1B, had another offer with Google through TCS, but chose Wipro as it's in a related field and provided better compensation, and doesn't really want GC.
Go home wipro wipes
These Indian services companies treat their employees like shit. Even the employees loyalty in spite of getting paid around 70-80k in bay area truly shocks me.
Yes, I really don't get their loyalty. Having encouraged my friend to really prepare & apply elsewhere since the last few months, I saw this myself. I think it has to do with being too comfortable with what you're doing if you've been doing it too long, and then you find it very difficult to find new jobs.
To put things in perspective. A recruiter with 3 years of exp makes 200K in Bay area.
Why would you leave a great company like Microsoft for service based company like Wipro?? The culture is service based company sucks. It treats you like slave. Only one person in the team works, and the rest just get the paycheck
True that. This sounds spot on.
It's for a friend. Thankfully, not me in that situation.
Yes they do pay for 2 weeks at least for lower bands. What are you joining as and why Wipro ?
Advice your friend to try somewhere else, there are lot of opportunities available. These shitty Indian companies are a curse. Hope they just get blacklisted and end the H1b misuse thing
Already tried, being tied to H1B and being on a time limit, H1B transfer, etc. doesn't give much flexibility. The best my friend can do now is switch, then continue to apply to other companies while working there. That said, you'd be surprised to know the average compensation at even companies like Microsoft - H1B abuse aplenty, but the blame falls on the employees as well, as they could always apply & switch to one with a better pay.
Wipro has better relocation package than TCS and Infy. 2 weeks rental, lease breakage et al. TCS gives only 2 days and you're on your own..
Why isn’t your friend asking these questions to wipro? Each package is different

Wipro??? I would not encourage. A friend of mine who worked for Wipro used to complain about it a lot
I feel the same, but this friend didn't have a lot of options in hand
