Got an offer from Convoy not sure if I should go from Wish, both of them seems like the similar mode of laying off, any suggestions? Convoy on paper money with lower base came from FAANG #tech #layoffs #offer #jobfit TC: 250k
Stay away from convoy. Had an interview with them recently and they look aggresive even with Amazon standard. An insider also told similar story about the company. I don't know about Wish.
I had an amazon style interview on steroids at Convoy. Horribly low pay as well, hard pass
Could you explain in what way you mean “aggressive”?
Is it for a security role ?
Nah, why?
How many shares did they offer for 4 years?
On $ not # of shares when I got the offer, no info about the round E strike price
Round E I think was like $10/unit
convoy is struggling right now, i'd go for stability in this market
I am really at the pivotal moment to make decision, convoy is pushing me to make decision right now, any further insights are so welcome!!!!
They basically told us we must have 30% growth or we're gonna have more layoffs. If things go bad this year, which they probably will, we're not gonna be able to raise for series F, at least not with good terms. I'd check back in 6 months and see how we're doing then...
OP - what are you trying to optimize for? Comp, learning, ideal company? Usually you can get at best get 2 of these things with transitions; if you get 1 or lower, definitely don't go. And grass always seems greener on the other side.... Until you actually get there and get completely settled in. I happen to know at least 4 people who have recently returned to Wish. I share this with no interest in mind but ensuring you're aware that grass always looks greener. Have you considered the idea of renegotiating your position in Wish? Talk to some manager and try to better your position? I would encourage you to logically present your case. Good luck!
Thanks for the detailed insights from the other side goodwish! I am looking for stability, learning, and smart peers. So from this point maybe both of them are not so ideal
OP - I can assure you that I have two of those three on my side of Wish. As for stability, I am personally stable now. And I trust our c suite when they say they have a healthy cash position and don't plan any cuts. I believe them up until next spring. All bets are off after that, as is the case for almost the entire tech industry during these recessionary times. Obviously if you are not getting any of those three at wish today, most definitely switch. But know that a known devil may be better than the unknown one. There may just be enough opportunities with learning and good peers inside wish if you knock the right door. All the best with your decision.
How is the moral and everything in wish?
Lots of attrition for sure
