I’ve been there a few times, feels sorta similar to Seattle weather-wise, lots of trees, plenty of granola eaters. I honestly think the beer and food are better given the unoriginal travesty that is South Lake Union. Lack of NFL/MLB is unfortunate, but not a dealbreaker. Seems like lots of suburbs for growing families, some old some new. Housing prices are decent but a little higher than I expected. Wondering if you could provide insight into the pros and cons of living and working there?
If it's for the food and beer, then yes, Portland/Beaverton is great. But is it that important to make such a drastic move? Can't you just take weekend trips?
Seattle doesn’t have a ton of beaver — which place is worse? Always consider what place can give you the best mating opportunities.
I love the bucca di beppo by south lake union. 😬😅
My friend lives in Portland working at Nike. He loves it! The only downside is the weather, but you are already in Seattle....so.... The rent is cheap, you have access to really good food and beer
I like Beaverton and I like that it’s close to Portland. I’m from California and everything is a lot more affordable.
Consider up to 10% OR state tax compared to no WA state tax. Gain in saving sales tax might not be substantial depending on your shopping habits.
My brother works there and there’s not much to do outside of Nike and college football games. Unless you are obsessed with Nike and love talking about it all the time with your coworkers, I’d reconsider leaving Amazon. Plus you’d probably take a pay cut.
