Now folks, please bear with me. I am not the most articulate person around. I just have been hearing a lot of discourse around me about the woke culture and how it constitutes the far left in the US and how it is as bad or even worse than the far right. I am not fully sure what this woke culture is. Apparently what my friends find offensive about it is people demanding a 1000 genders and apparently there are people on the far right who vehemently oppose it. My question is how do these kinds of issues fit into the left and right of the political spectrum. My understanding was the definition of left vs right was mostly driven by the approach each party takes towards framing economic and developmental policies. Gender whatever that means for anybody is a human issue, one of personal tone. How can that be divided across party lines? US is a country which holds individualism to high regard. Shouldn't everybody be able to live their life as their full selves whatever that means for them and as long as that doesn't harm anyone else. Shouldn't these human rights be based on common sense than anything else? Take the gender identity issue. If some group want 1000 genders, what's the harm in recognizing it? Nothing. Now if a biological male identifying as women want to participate in female Olympics, why allow it when the playing field is obviously not level and harming the biological female participants? All these issues have common sense solutions which neither appeases the woke nor the comatose (for the lack of a better term) Is there no party or people in this country who think like this and bring some common sense and logic to the state of affairs of this nation. All I see is non sensical discourses. This makes me think the problem doesn't lie with the woke or the comatose. In a country as big as this, there is no wonder that there will be people with a wide variety of opinions ranging from philosophical to total absurdity. And I agree that they should have their freedom of speech. But why does this country and its institutions including social media provide them with a loudspeaker and podium to exercise their freedom of speech? Their freedom of speech is best exercised behind bathroom doors. The institutions and this culture that we have today of rallying behind the absurdists is the problem we face. Is the majority of the country really sheep that can't think for themselves? TC - Just enough to keep me from escaping the rat race.#uspolitics #politics
If some group wants 1000 genders, and then forces you to submit to their ideology or else be fired from your job and canceled, that creates a bit of a coercion problem, don't you think? Especially if that group owns most mainstream media, has political majority in government, promotes their ideology in schools and workplaces and labels all opposition "terrorist", sending FBI on their tail. You know they now have an official Ministry of Truth, right? if you disagree with the party line you will be censored and persecuted for "disinformation". And the party line bundles a thousand other things into their ideology besides genderism, buy one get 1000 free. Somehow all that well-meaning puppy loving gender fluid pseudo-liberalism turned into this aggressive mob which silences all dissent. If you want people to respect your genders, or anything else, you have to respect people right to disagree and express their opinion.
People lack empathy. Asking for government recognition of 1000 genders is not bad if that is what they need to have a sense of belonging. Expecting everyone to subscribe to that ideology is bad. Because people have their own belief and value system which they should be able to hold on to as long as nobody else is harmed in the process. But you should also note that if you truly believe there are only 2 genders, expecting everyone to conform to that is equally bad as expecting everyone to conform to 1000 genders. What people on both sides of the debate need to learn is a lesson on empathy, tolerance and coexistence. The world is not all ones and zeros.
I'm not sure how people with empathy can hear detransitioning stories and not see this ideology ruining lives, and think it's ok to encourage confused teenagers to castrate or sterilize themselves or ruin their body and psyche with puberty blockers https://thevelvetchronicle.com/double-mastectomy-at-15-detrans-16-year-old-now-seeks-reversal/ These stories are not hard to find on youtube and elsewhere but liberals prefer to stick their head in the sand as long as can feel good about themselves as sort of morally superior advocates for the marginalized, no matter they help destroy those marginalized lives with their noble help this applies not just to "trans" but also to racial justice protests that resulted in police withdrawing from poor crime-ridden communities which in turn brought a major spike in shootings and violent crime. truly the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

So in your ideal world, some people only have freedom of speech (thought) behind closed doors and otherwise they should just shut up. I also suppose your speech is the only valid speech belonging out in the open. You’ll fit in with the left-wing woke crowd perfectly
Wow. You couldn't wait to label me and I bet you have issues with people coming up with their own gender labels. What a hypocrite. As for your statement, no, that's not my ideal world. My ideal world is one where everybody has a voice but where people have the discernment to know grain from chaff for themselves and not be swayed away by any shepherd. Where they have the capability to make progress towards the collective good. One where empathy and humanity is not discounted in the name of religion or culture or economics.
Not sure what I said that was hypocritical. You said social media should essentially police what people say. In that world, someone then has to decide what can and can’t be said. The place your describing is called China.
