Would you work at a consulting firm it they give you a raise of 20% from current job? What if, it's a sweatshops from India or an American firm who often outsources (Accenture, Deloitte, HP, IBM, CG, etc) What if, they give you freedom to build your own team in US and away? ---- Typo : team not tea.. no chai on blind
Any numskull can be promoted to a “people manager” in those companies and then go on to ruin lives in real tech companies forever
It’s one thing to get into consulting out of curiosity. It’s another thing to switch to consulting knowing how trash it is, just for a raise.
the onshore/offshore model is tricky to be honest. and i've had a few projects where we cut offshore out of the picture just because it's an inefficient workflow. i'd rather have high billable rate expert onshore guy that gets things done fast than offshore bodies where there's a lot of back and forth involved. what works best on an offshore model is if you have a working relationship with a guy leading that team on a previous project and you can 100% vouch that he can deliver and the abilities of his team. that way you can straight up talk to each other with no BS on every aspect of the project (expectations, timeline, budget, resource, etc)
