Work friends
Do you hang out with friends from work outside of the office? New to the bay area. Just wondering out of curiority. Current TC: 220k Future TC: 🍌
I have friends at work, but I also have a family. The only way we hang out is multiplayer video games.

I used to when I started working here. It took me a year to realize that they were just gathering information on each other to backstab them later. And that's when I stopped. I'm sure it helps you if you're good at that game. I can't do it. I have been missing out on important inside info since then, but at least I can sleep well at night.

I'm the only one outside the universities who enjoys hitting the bong and playing Mario Kart, so no.
Used to, but then we always talked about work, which super sucked.
My 2nd job out of school, my boss and I had smoke break 1 on 1s. We became friends and hung out a lot outside of work. I eventually left as well as stopped smoking. I carried on the tradition though as I've gained direct reports and take them out for a shot and/or a beer for our 1 on 1s. Depending on how on or off topic we get, it's not uncommon another drink may happen Also, Not everybody drinks, so those that don't, we grab coffee/tea/boba instead.
I did at my last job, but at my current place people don't really have much interest in getting to know you.
