I'm starting a new remote position with Cisco in a couple of weeks, and I'm trying to get my home office setup. Does anyone know what exactly Cisco provides? They shipped my laptop, but what about a chair? Or monitors? (I have a gaming chair that really doesn't look professional in WebEx meetings.) Is there some allocation for home office equipment?
You should be getting a router soon! How does chair bother in video meetings with background setup
Because the back is really high and has red racing stripes, the background algorithm chokes sometimes and the chair peeks through. Maybe it doesn't matter. Probably 2/3 of the people I'll be working with are gamers too.
Cisco offers remote? Iâm due to join the San Jose campus next week as a new grad SDE 2 and I have to come in everyday :/
I guess it depends on the team, but yeah, supposedly every position can be remote.
Just curious, what was your grade level and compensation they offered you?
How do you request a remote kit fir remote work?
Should be available to everyone in FY23q3 afaik
Where would I go to request one?
I just started at Cisco last month, and like you, I wondered the same thing. Youâll be able order what you need for a home office ($1K max spending limit) via SmartBuy. Ask your manager about it once you start.
Yup you can also check Amazon business there is a punch out. What are external hires getting these days TC wise? Mind sharing?
Where is can you find the Amazon business?
I ordered a chair, monitor, dock, mouse, and keyboard. Nothing too unreasonable
Oh, one more question. I know Cisco has an annual company shutdown. I asked the recruiter if these came out of the 20 days of PTO, and they said, no, it was separate. But everywhere I look, it says they come out of your PTO (so 20-6 = 14 real PTO days). Which is correct?
There were a couple days that werenât included in pto and some that were
Iâve been reading the same thing, TGmE72. Iâve also read that one of those days is a floating holiday, which can be used during the shutdown (so itâs really 5 PTO days), and employees can âborrowâ PTO if they donât have enough to cover the shutdown. My manager and I are meeting next week, and weâll discuss it then for clarification.
A really good router
Youâll get WFH kit if youâre joining August onwards. New policy for the new FY.
Late to the party, but there's an ergonomics program that I used to get a real nice Humanform chair. Took like six weeks to ship but it's real nice and no cost to me. Talk to your manager, they should be able to rubber stamp whatever you need.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Iâve got a dual monitor setup with dock. Works great and no one noticed my gaming chair during teams meeting.
