How’s your wlb as manager at workday? How is performance review? Do you have pip? Im planning to join. So curious. Reason to join is to become a manager. Current tc 950 New tc after joining 500 8 yoe Ml manager
Workday would be a big downgrade. Any reason you want to take this dip?
The reasons are in the questions
Is WLB and stress that bad at Meta that you are willing to take such a big pay cut?
They said it’s to due to title bump and not wlb. Why jump to conclusion right away?
OP is probably nearing FIRE territory if he’s leaving almost 500k TC on the table Still, holy fkin shit this
No jump to management is worth -450k TC
I am a manager at workday. Workday Manager WLB is bad. IC WLB at workday is good. If you are looking for WLB then join as IC.
No job is worth a 50% pay cut. -Former Metamate
WD managers are puppets to their senior ones and do as told. Don't let engineers engineer and push solutions. Also, wlb is fucked for a lot of them, so the wlb part depends on the org but if you are a manager with an ounce brain and a sense of good managerial skills, don't come here.
Ouch
I'm a manager and its generally pretty chill in my org. PIP culture is become more frequent. Performance reviews are ok. 2 large and 2 small per team mate per, each quarter. There's a lot of crap with some orgs and teams but I feel like I'm in a good spot working with some good teams
Which org?
Lol what. Why would you go for almost 50% pay cut
Why not? It’s a privilege and wise to know when you have enough. Not everyone is motivated by money. If most of your decisions are driven by money, you’re still poor. If money can buy you choices and time, then why not?
Yes. Always optimize on a longer run. It’s okay to lose few things in the short term
