Bachelors CS degree with 7.6 ish GPA Worked at Microsoft and Google India as a SWE. Close to 3 YOE and wanting to pursue MS in FALL 2024 No research papers as such. Haven’t given GRE yet. Aiming for 320+. Suggestions about the universities I can get admit from and should apply to ? Also can I aim for PhD as well ? Any universities that give more pref to work ex than undergrad college and GPA ? Also does any MS counsellors from jamboree etc help ? If yes, any recommendations ? Note: might have an option to go via L1 route in future but not considering it since I want to genuinely study and work in US.( my undergrad was pretty fucked up in terms of faculties, exposure etc). Moreover L1 competition has become pretty hard these days. So would prefer advice for MS rather than L1 is better and all that. My areas of interest are Distributed Systems & ML Thank you for reading through 🙏 PS : Also Google, MSFT isn’t end of career and I am looking to invest in myself rather than getting stuck with golden handcuffs. Bhai! I am earning 5L & searching with 1000 eyes for a 8L job. Here you got into Microsoft, Google. And leaving Google for MS. Dil se bhura lagta hi bhai
Money isn’t everything bro
Please give me your job at Google, when you leave
Job prospects in US are really bad these days. Don’t leave your plush job in India for an unwelcoming country like US.
He will be searching for a job after 2-2.5 years, if he comes in Fall24. Things shall improve till then.
Please research about H1B lottery as well as infinite GC line before you think about applying to US

You're basically asking blind to do all your research for you. There's dedicated forums for people applying for Masters, at least there were 10 years back when I applied. 1. Your experience doesn't add too much to your profile unless you worked on research projects. 2. Get good and authentic letters of recommendations (around 2) from your undergrad university. This will be difficult as you graduated a while back. 3. Don't hire a consultant. Write your own SOPs and be authentic. 4. Apply to around 8 universities. 2 stretch, 4 regular, and 2 easy admits. Don't skimp on the applications if you're serious about this.
Hey If I want to apply for Professional Masters Program then my experience matters right?
There’s no value in professional masters. It’s as good as getting a certificate of completion from Harvard. It won’t fetch you that same pedigree as you’d get from a regular full time course
Not sure, but why are you asking ? Also how can I find it out ?
U r in google meaning u r the best in the world. U dont need MS.
Google doesn’t mean best in the world.
YOE ?
Why do you want to do MS? What is your motivation for your “genuine “ study and work in US?
More exposure and better work culture & wlb + chance to interact and work with diverse set of individuals
Respectfully op, 70% of that sounds like BS
Study in the US. .. tons of universities to pick from. Get your GRE done and the score will help you with some of the decision making. Work in the US.. be prepared financially and mentally to leave the US at the end of the F1 STEM period. The h1b lottery odds have been on a downward trajectory. Canada is easier on the immigration and work auth front. But its a small market. A masters degree in a EU country could be a good option.
Earn and work for 5ish years in US should be good enough if I am able to. Don’t mind getting back to india after 5 years Canada EU i guess salaries are less
You won't get 5 years though. OPT + Stem OPT is only three years.
