Anyone work at corporate in a tech division? whats it like?
Valuable insights. Thanks
While I agree with pizzaqueen, I have heard good things about Starbucks web division. They made their checkout site a progressive web app which was very successful and modern.
I've heard they are using Haskell. No kidding.
If u go to say an IT dept that thinks it builds software after working at FANG or any other real software company you may want to pull your eyelashes out after a few months. My experience after startups and major sw co to small software co owned by conglomerate and then IT dept of a big 5 US company was demoralizing and frustrating as hell. Conglomerate tried to tell us how to build software and wanted to do it like building bridges. They also hired non tech folks as Dev Mgrs to basically project manage offshore folks that were largely clueless. In one year we accomplished what one scrum team could in a month at a true sw company. IT dept that thought they could build pipelines was worse. You will never have the same amount of resources at those types of companies, nor will u have intelligent people to challenge and grow. Now, if u r an average or low performer it might b a great move....u will b a rockstar.π²
