I've been working for small US startups remotely without issues. I'm not a US citizen, I live outside the US and I'm not interested in relocating to the US. I wanted to try working for a larger organization this way and so I was wondering if anyone's had success doing that.
Larger companies wonāt take a tax burden for an international employee. I have tried this with 2 different large companies (due to visa issues) but both times I was told that the taxes are too complicated and I was asked to work for their foreign subsidiary in my country with local pay.
That's exactly what I was worried about. I also happen to have a C-Corp incorporated in the US. Would it be possible for me to work through that?
You need to reside in the US and then you can do that.

You can do this but this will result in huge tax implications for you and the employer in the longer terms. After 180 of outside US, you are no longer a tax resident in the US.
Also, how would you use any of the benefits a US employer otherwise can offer you letās start with basic things like medical š„ . It gets really complicated.
I never was a tax resident in the US. I've been working essentially as a contractor for the startup I'm at right now. I believe I've given them a W-8BEN(https://businessservices.wisc.edu/documents/w-8ben-certificate-of-foreign-status-of-beneficial-owner-for-united-states-tax-withholding-and-reporting-individuals/) if I remember correctly. They simply pay me and then once a year my accountant in the country where I live helps me declare that income as self-employed/business income and I pay tax here accordingly. Regarding benefits I get none from my employer. I pay my taxes here and that includes paying for the single-payer health care system we have here.
