Everyone obsessed with getting an address in Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, now let me introduce the WITCH neighborhoods in these three cities. That is: Wilburton, Inglewood-Finn Hill, Totem Lake, Crossroads, Houghton. Wilburton, Bellevue - don't let the proximity to Bellevue downtown fool you. Wilburton has nothing but industrial estates and Spring District, which is underdeveloped and half empty still. And the main tenant in the office development is Meta, which as we all know is a failed company. Don't forget the moldy apartment/condo complexes everywhere. 8th street is terribly hilly and your car will get horrible MPG when driving through Wilburton. Don't forget the schools are bad, comparing to directly west of 405 (Clyde Hill and Medina). Inglewood-Finn Hill, Kirkland - for people who want a Kirkland address but are too poor to afford anywhere else. This area borders Kenmore (danger zone!!) and is far from the highway, so have fun commuting to 405 on the small residential streets. It is filled with ugly 50 year old houses whose only redeeming factor is you can buy them for $1M or less, but you will feel too embarrassed to invite anybody over. Don't forget that this area is zoned to Juanita high school, which is the worst in Lake Washington School District. Even Northshore has better schools. Totem Lake, Kirkland - 10 years ago it had the reputation of being full of drug dealers, nowadays it got a facelift, but old problems still remain. You are so close to the highway that you will constantly hear loud noise when shopping in their "downtown" area, which is bisected by a highway, so have fun walking on the nearly non-existent sidewalks. Have seen pedestrians almost get hit by cars turning onto the 405 onramps. And of course, the area is filled with low quality apartments which should have been bulldozed 20 years ago. Worst schools in Lake Washington school district. Crossroads, Bellevue - does this area even need a mention? Yes it's in Bellevue, but filled with Section 8 housing, gang violence, and worst schools in Bellevue school district. Crossroads mall is dying and the climbing gym smells like stinky feet. One of Bellevue's only recent murders happened in Goldsmith Park, and the teens were all from the Crossroads area (gang related violence). Houghton, Kirkland - in this area, there are multimillion dollar houses along the lakefront (which you can't afford, so forget about it), a crappy religious university which blasts prayer music early morning on Sundays, and a bunch of low income housing near the 520/405 intersection. Recently, there was a home invasion in this supposedly "peaceful" neighborhood (on Oct 9, search the news). Houghton is the same name as the neighborhood which Nelson Mandela lived in South Africa, but apparently the Houghton in Kirkland is much crappier. My TC: 180k, nontech, can't afford any of the above, bought in Bothell 😭
Kirkland is an awful city no matter where you live. Then again I don't think Seattle is a very good area in general which is a shame because the summer weather is great.
People keep saying that about the summer.. yea its great COMPARED TO REST OF THE YEAR. There are places where its that (or better) weather throughout the year though.
And? I said great not the best on earth. You go randomly throw darts at a global and see how the weather in those places compare in the summer. Odds are you'll be in a desert, someone it rains a lot(and I mean real rain not Seattle rain), hurricanes, or is regularly in the 90s. In a lot of places you'll even have multiple of those. I hate Seattle, but to pretend its summer weather isn't better(as most people would define it) than most places on earth is absurd.
