(Considering the history of product management is technically not that long). It’s so hard to land a decent interview and when you do get one with a good company, there’s the possibility of getting laid off in a short while. Here’s my Amazon offer, but I’m having crazy panic attacks with all the what if scenarios. Base - 220k Bonus - 124k Stock - 145k YOE - 11yrs Do I renegotiate or just go with what I've got? Current TC: 0 Update: Thank you Blinders for the kind dms and comments. I was able to negotiate a bit higher to get it over 500k. Although not by very much. Still, I'm grateful. And yeah, for those who are looking to interview with Amazon too, feel free to dm too. I’ll try to help however I can.
This is a good L6 offer
Christ It's an L7 so it's terrible then
Yes this is a bad L7 offer. L7 should be 500k+, up to 700k What is the specific role title? Amazon has 3 different PM pay bands: Product Manager, Technical Product Manager and Technical Product Manager - External Services
Is that $145/ yr or 145 spread over 4 years?
Amazon vesting is 5/15/40/40 over 4 years and bonus is paid over first 2 years instead of stock
1. Offer is low. My guess is they leveraged the fact you are unemployed. 2. Having a job is better than nothing. 3. A company isn't your family. Don't be afraid of "layoffs" and always be interviewing. Keep searching
Very interesting. Can you help clarify how can someone be not afraid of layoffs?
What's there to fear if your have a plan b
Doesn’t look like a typical Amazon offer. Three questions to help you evaluate better. What’s the year 1 and year 2 sign on bonus? What’s the total stock grant? Also, what’s the specific title? Product Manager or Product Manager Technical? Lastly, what city is this offer for? SF/NYC are considered tier 1 whereas Seattle and other locations are tier 2.
jeez
Gets half a million salary being a PM complains about being the worst time in history….
Seriously. The level of disconnect here is insane.
Definitely had a double take. Greed knows no limits sometimes and comes in many forms. Lol. Maybe OP is perfect for Amazon, where empathy and kindness towards the team, user and environment are all out the window! Sorry op but good luck to you
Why do we need PM? Architect with Product Knowledge should be enough. PM is redundant position.
Exactly because of that arrogance PMs are needed.
The real question is why do we need Architects
For the PM gurus. I want to get into PM, where should I start and what would you recommend. carnegie mellon has a M.S PM program. Numerous online training programs such as pluralsight have decent training courses. TC: $275k YOE:25 IT: Cyber
With an offer like that, how has it been difficult? 🤣I think it’s been more difficult for minorities to get nearly half of that because of the constant misconceptions of DEI and etc
What level?
L7
