Current TC: 120k base + 15k sign-on + 6.25k stocks YoE: 2 + 2 major DL publications I'm currently interviewing for 'Applied Scientist - Alexa Privacy and want to know what I'm getting into. My current Walmart position is stable and has a good WLB, but boring without any learning opportunity - mostly focusing on making clueless business folk happy. Manager wouldn't let me switch teams and keeps stalking me on social media (including Blind), even threatening me anonymously and I see that as a huge red flag. I feel the Data Scientist position is becoming too generic, I see too much variation in skill-set amongst colleagues with the same position. I feel confident about interviewing and working in advanced positions (either Applied Scientist positions or DS with focus on NLP/CV), but also I'd lose touch if I don't work on the same for 12 more months, being stuck as a generic DS with 🥜 pay and work that is hard to be proud of #amazon #alexa #datascience #software #engineering #swe
Alexa Applied Scientist here, have been with the team for several years. My group is good. I have seen some not great groups with a lot of churn. It is a big company, ao YMMV.

Like anywhere, it's going to be completely dependent on your team - the same project can have both ends of the spectrum. The team I'm currently on is pretty lit.
I see, would be great if you could connect people from Alexa team to this post. BTW what team are you?
