Would it be okay if I, an Amazon Employee, invest in Fedex?

I work for Amazon Shipping, so Fedex could be a direct competitor?, is it okay if I invest in Fedex or is it insider trading. I also own shares of Walmart, Microsoft, etc. #amazon #fedex #stockmarket

As long as you not shorting your own company it's ok.

No I'm not, I don't do options. I would invest in Amazon but it's too expensive for me and I will get some shares as part of my RSU award in future anyways.

It's can still be insider trading if you have non-public information that gives you an advantage in the trade, even if it's not your own company. It's a serious crime; I wouldn't trust Blind to keep me out of prison. There's a chance that it would be fine to do this trade depending on what information you have, but if you really want to do this you need to consult with an attorney to make sure it's okay

Yes, I guess if you knew confidential info that amazon signed a deal to massively increase their business with FedEx, then MAYBE that would be material non public info...but still seems like it's a gray area to me. Id suggest you check with amazon legal..... but I suspect they will say as long as you dont have material non public info you are ok (are you on an amazon "insider" trading restricted list?)

If you don’t have any info that’s not public, it’s fine

@Expedia No afaik I'm not on any trading restricted list, I'm a L4 employee who recently joined and I don't really get any non-public info.
