Would you commute ~4 hrs 3 times/week for additional 100k ?

Considering a job offer in San Francisco. I live in San Jose. Commute to the closest Caltrain is 25+ minutes in car, and 1hr to SF Caltrain station. Office is close to SF Caltrain, so total commute time is approximately 1.5-2 hours each way in the worst case. I am married. Wife is looking for a job. L5 Offer TC - 350k, 220k base, 130k stocks (stock is volatile, can crash by 50% anytime) Current TC - 225k, 185k base, 40k stocks. YOE - 7 Updates: I recently moved to a new rental place. We do not like SF’s cold weather #hybrid #wfh #sanfrancisco #bayarea #commute

Why commute ? Why don’t you rent something closer to sfo ? If you have are homeowner , you can rent out your house .

Updated the post. We recently moved a new rental place. We do not like living in SF for a couple of reasons - safety, cold weather

Iived this nightmare for 18 months commuting to SF from Fremont. I would never do it again. My life was on pause for 1.5 years.

What happened afterwards?

I found the job in San Jose and never would consider taking an offer from any company located in SF

You aren't getting that much of a bump. I wouldn't rely on RSU values to stay stable. Stay where you are. If you were actually getting a 100k bump, it would be worth considering.

I couldn't even imagine how bad it's going to be to drive to the Bart station, park, take a Bart, often not able to secure a seat during those rush hours, ride it for 1+ h and then walk for good 15 min through the filthy SF.
