Doctor, lawyer, or engineer

Why those three? Why not teacher, researcher, artist?

Chase coolturtle Sep 11, 2019

Because if they aren't those three, they bring dishonor to the family

I will encourage them to do something they enjoy and have a passion for. Whether that is tech, trades, philosophy, or anything else. I'll fully support them in it.

Anything else?

Amazon SmkWdEvyDy Sep 11, 2019

Sure. Whatever they want to do. As long as they put their mind to it. I'm not going to have kids so I can treat them like pets. They're people and I'll absolutely give them my opinion and do my best to make sure they have information to make the best choices for themselves. But at the end of the day it's their life.

Researcher, Entrepreneur/Founder, or Creator Definitely not doctor or lawyer. They should know basic software engineering regardless.

If they become a doctor or lawyer that will bring our family shame.

Ohh the horror!

I personally would have tried some other career path if it were purely my decision -- Athlete/ artist / Photographer / theater I turned out to be a fine Engineer; I think there are tons of profession to explore. Tech has an edge! You can do tech, earn the money and explore all these other options. I think vice versa would be a bit challenging (or not)

Not at all. That being said, I do feel bad making my boy who's in 3rd grade solve 2 LC hards before being able to eat dinner 😟.

What's his TC?
