Let’s say you did pretty good at interview, and the company (Google) is willing to give you an offer, but team lead at the end of interview asks you about GPA or experience on your resume, etc. Like in reality you got GPA 2.0, but u told them your GPA is 3.5 Would you take a risk and lie?
No I would not risk it. Because I know people with a shit GPA or a non technical degree who have gotten interviews at those companies
It’s just really really not worth the risk at all
Yeah imagine getting an offer at your dream company and and failing the background check
They didn't offer you by seeing you GPA. So it will hardly matter to them.
Have lost out on some good potential candidates because they lied about dumb stuff and were caught by HR during the background check...and for things that were not even a requirement (like what you’re proposing here, lying about GPA)! It’s frustrating from the hiring side and a sad outcome for the liar. Don’t do it.
I agree don’t lie. But in regards to GPA I’m pretty sure school is not legally allowed to release that info. They can only say your degree and when it was obtained. Like we for example had to send an official transcript separately because the background check couldn’t get GPA.
We all lie,
idk why there are so many posts that boil down to “should i lie?”. i blame it on the idiots that parrot “fake it till you make it”. it was meant to mean feign confidence until you gain actual confidence. not lie through your teeth PS the issue is not your GPA but the fact you would lie. how can they trust you not to lie during work?
Years of experience and GPA is irrelevant in tech industry. It is about technical knowledge or your open source or your startup. You should have atleast one

This is such a dumb question. “Would I lie a second time if I already lied once?” I wouldn’t lie once, so how can I possibly answer that?
