Hear a lot of not so great things about the culture at Amazon (competitive etc.). Personally love Nike and the wlb and collaborative community here. Hypothetically, If you were offered a position with the same role and pay, would you switch to Amazon? Comment thoughts below.
I want to move, but have heard the same things about culture, which is the greatest thing actually pulling me back
What have people heard that’s bad?
Fuck NO
No. Who wants to join desk crying lol
Portland is better than Seattle I agree with that. The crying thing is an exaggeration. If you're good you're happy and the company treats you well. The people feeling gutted are the bottom performers. The bottom ten percent go on formal plans and the bottom third or so worry that they might be next. The top twenty percent are actively rewarded and the top half are feeling pretty good. So your experience depends on whether you are in the top half of employees or the bottom third. It's definitely a competitive place but if you're actually pretty good at your job that's a good thing. If you suspect you're going to be bottom third then do Amazon and yourself a favor and don't apply.
Absolutely not. They’re the embodiment of evil, dude.
Please don’t come here.
All the bad things you people mentioned above are valid but team specific. I am fortunate to work on a team with a good manager that wants to help me reach career goals. I'm learning a ton and make more money than my previous employer which was a major retailer.
Yeah because I’d definitely make more money than I do now doing basically the same thing.
I love the culture
What about it do you love?
How fast things move, the lack of bullshit, the level of influence and independence I have, that almost everyone is capable and pulls their own weight, the ability to reach out to and collaborate with pretty much anyone without needing to get anyone's permission to do so.
