$3M in MCOL Age 42 TC 250+paper That’s $100k with conservative 3.3% SWR
I mean these days the minimum one needs to retire is $20M in investments, $4M in real estate fully paid off, $3M in 401k, $3.5M in liquid cash, $3M for kids’ education. Anything less and you’re doomed for poverty at 65 years. At least this is what I’m aiming for before I even remotely think of retirement.

If everything is paid off by age 65 and life span is 82, so how much do you need for 17 years? Let’s not consider, you may have to pay the house for your kids.
It depends on your expenses but I would retire when I have that much liquid and fully paid house.
Grind harder. You have 23 or more years to go before you can think of retiring.
