Wouldn't take it immediately as I just got a booster but yes.
Eh, we'll have a new variant by April why bother
But the new variant would likely be based off Omicron? So that vaccine would be the best bet at immunity?
If Omicron is mild, why inject something never tested?
The first sentence of the article literally says they started a clinical trial, but ok sure "never tested".
Trial: not on infected people. A/B testing. Vaccinate, say, 20000 people and see how many gets compared to non vaccinated 20000.
Already had omicron so no. Variant-targeted vaccines will almost always be too late. I have 3 mRNA doses but I don't think I'm going to get any more until the technology significantly improves.
the technology is great, it takes them a weekend to update the mrna sequence in the vaccine. It's the bureaucracy that slows it down.
I mean until they can make a vaccine with true sterilizing immunity
I had a booster shot but no I wouldn't take omicron booster again.
Do you want to kill a grandma? /s
The original vaccine was super effective for the original variant (94% efficiency), Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta. It's less effective for Omicron. I'd definitely get an Omicron booster to restore 94% efficiency at preventing COVID infection. Any future variant will likely be based on Omicron and will remain effective.
OK, but why is Omicron not based on earlier variants?
What? That's a bizarre question and shows a basic lack of scientific understanding. I'm no immunologist, but even the most basic news articles have covered this already. Omicron is based on the Alpha variant. However, there are substantial mutations to Omicron's spike protein, which causes a weaker immune response from antibodies trained to identity and attack the original COVID spike protein. As a general rule of thumb, the more mutations to the spike protein, the weaker the immune response.
Omicron was a cold for me. Absolutely not.
Already did, it’s called Omicron.

That'd be a few steps backwards. Should wait for Omegacron
