Is Google search worse nowadays?

Sometimes I search for medical topics and I just get tons of very similar useless WebMD-like results when I really want to see biohackers talking about their favorite scientific papers regarding whatever metabolic pathways have evidence of behavior correlated with whatever medical issue I feel like learning about today. At best I can sometimes find someone crying on Reddit about a health problem and see a bunch of people telling them to try smoking weed or some other dumb thing to fix it and that's only if I include "reddit" in the query. I feel like emphasis on authority sources has destroyed the usefulness of Google for me. With few exceptions I don't actually use Google when I want to learn stuff anymore.

It has the best page 2 results of any search engine. On par with the page one results of some search engines even. Meanwhile the simplified search with great Page 1 made the Page Down key useful like loud TV commercials made the mute command useful. Google’s simplified search is like Amazon’s Day 1. Mostly legend slipping into myth.

Here's on of the most interesting videos I've seen on the biases in Google search - really basic ones too! We assume results are accurate and oftentimes they aren't: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRGNBu2J/ Another great example is if you search "is X healthy..." Vs "is X unhealthy", the results will show confirmation bias.
