Wrist pain while typing

Anybody have suggestions for eliminating wrist pain from typing all day? It starts out fine in the morning but by evening my wrists are in pain, and it gets progressively worse throughout the week until I take a break over the weekend and don’t type at all. I’ve started to hover my hands over the keyboard instead of resting them on a wrist pad and it’s been a minimal improvement. I’ve also rotated through several different kinds of keyboards but it doesn’t make a big difference. Mostly I feel an ache on my outer wrists and a mild burning sensation on the inside of my wrists. I do lift weights but apparently that doesn’t help either.

Read up on carpal tunnel syndrome and take it seriously. If ignored, some end up needing surgery and some end up with lifelong complications.

I had this problem once and was really scared. After using keyboard wrist rest and vertical mouse it got much better.

Which specific mouse do you use?

Just below your elbow on the top part of your arm and on the wrists and hands

The kinesis advantage keyboard is the only thing that solved my RSI.

Using an ergonomic keyboard is the first step! An entry level ergonomic keyboard is the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000. I used this and my wrist pain literally vanished in two days. If you want to go to a much higher end keyboard, try the Goldtouch or Kinesis advantage. For ergonomic mouse, Evoluent vertical mouse is good. If symptoms still persist, go to a doctor, get some stretching exercises done and see what the doctor suggests

Get off blind and find a ergo advisor. This is no joke

Get an ergo assessment AND go see a physical therapist.

I know a wrist brace helped me with some of those coder injuries. For sure make sure you have good chair, desk, etc and that you are using it properly vs coding dirty in the low rida

Do you rest your arms on the table when typing? I used to only have my wrists on the table and noticed that was causing the pain since I was putting too much pressure on them.
